My favorite place, or at least my favorite place right now would have to be the Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium at the University of Oklahoma. Most people would read that and probably think,"Wow, this girl really loves OU football," and that would be very true. But the stadium to me has a much deeper meaning.
For the past 3 and going on 4 years the stadium has been and has represented a second home for me. I am a member of the pom squad at OU and the stadium is one of the biggest representations I can think of. I spend countless hours at this stadium with girls that have become my family. Not only do we cheer at every home and away football game, but this stadium is where we workout, practice, meet fans, inspire children, encourage players, and uplift each other. We grow together, learn together, love each other, and truly become a family in this stadium.
We discover and rediscover our love for our university and dance every time we step on the field and are continuously reminded of the hard work and dedication that we must give to stay there. Most people would think that its just about looking pretty and standing on a sideline but there is so much more than that and it means so much more to the 20 other girls I call my teammates and sisters. We give countless hours a week with practices, games, nationals rehearsals, and community/university appearances, but I wouldn't change it for anything. Being a member of OU Pom has been the best experience I've had in college and this is why the stadium is my favorite place to me.
What a great picture and post, Zarah! There are a couple of members of the Pride in class this semester too, so I hope all that wonderful Stadium excitement will energize our class this fall, too! GO OU!!!
ReplyDeleteThat stadium is definitely a highlight of this campus. Pure electricity. I played football at Union and I remember the atmosphere of being on that field was so great, I could only imagine it in that stadium. I was the captain of the rugby team here my last four years but now in my last semester i'm just doing design and training for NYC, Denver, or France. Keep putting in work (clapping emoji)!
